WAFFLE HISTORY

Champion: The SRS Express and KD Krunch tie
Waffle League opens.  The season was dominated by Scott’s SRS Express who rolled the league and stormed all the way to the championship game, where he clashed with perennial power the KD Krunch. The result of the big game; a tie.  RJ barely made the playoffs, and immediately lost, as did former owner Kevin L.  Adam and Tom both won Wildcard games only to be tossed out the next week in the Division Championship Round.

TEAMS: KEVIN D., SCOTT, RJ, ADAM, NICK, AARON, MATT, KEVIN L., TOM, TEAM 10

Champion: The Cracker Barrel
The second trip around, everyone expected Scott and KD to battle to settle their tie from Year 1.  KD ran away with things for much of the season, losing rarely, and topping virtually every offensive statistical category in the league by a wide margin.  The SRS express was doomed for trouble with injuries and disappointments, and did not return to the post season.  Adam was the new divisional kingpin, and all forecasts had him and KD meeting for the gold.  RJ obliterated Nick in their wildcard game, and new-owner Steve rolled past Aaron in the other Wildcard match.  Then the upsets began, Steve snuck past KD, denying him his place in history, and RJ embarrassed Adam’s team by nearly 80 points.  Neither division winner would compete for the Fantasy bowl for the first time in league history.  Then, in a record that might stand for some time, RJ beat…no…RJ flat-out sodomized Steve in the Fantasy Bowl scoring a win by well over 100 points, and declaring himself the best owner in all the land.

Champion: The Cracker Barrel
With RJ looking to defend his crown and 3 new owner's on the block, Waffle 3 promised to bring some excitement, add to it the fact that neither Adam nor KD made the playoffs for the first time in either franchise's history and you had some new blood, and of course, some old.  Tom finally came out of his perennial mediocrity to win his division outright leaving Scott to dispose of John in the WildCard game.  On the other side of things it was Tim in his Waffle postseason debut stopping Steve from a return to the title game.  Scott's luck would hold as he took a wild card berth to the title game by beating Tom to set up a big title match with RJ who overcame Tim's charge to get the chance to defend the title he had so nicely made a trophy to commemorate.  Well, some things were new, but not the winner, as RJ pulled away late Sunday and left Scott behind, securing his second straight title.

 Champion: The Norwegian Nightmare
The season was up and down for everyone as the league saw what was easily the closest finish ever.  Returning to the league Nick put up a solid season and took the division I crown while RJ treaded water long enough to make the playoffs once again.  Steve was able to edge out Tom and Aaron in the final week to secure the second wild card spot, but it went down to the end.  In Division II, Adam lost 2 of his final 3 games but was able to cling to a division title by a game.  John stayed hot on the leader's heels but was forced to take a wildcard berth.  Scott was able to pull into the playoffs narrowly edging out Tim and Kevin who both had a chance to get in up until the end.  The Wildcard round saw Steve end RJ's postseason winning streak and saw John send the SRS Express back to the station.  Nick proved that division winner's could indeed make the championship game, as he finished off Steve in a close game.  On the other side, Adam's postseason woes continued, and John disposed of the Bombers with relative ease.  In what many thought was a real uphill test for Nick facing the relentless onslaught of points that John's Timberwolves were putting up at the end of the season, somehow lightning struck and on Monday Night Football at the end of the season the points dried up and Nick walked away with his first Waffle crown.

Champion: The Boozehounds
Waffle 5 rolled out of the gates with the 5th different set of owner’s the league had seen.  Out were the Sloths and in were the Boozehounds, hungry to prove themselves in their first year.  As the season reached its end, the renamed KD Krunch (now the Air Krunch) had thrashed their way back into the postseason for the first time in 3 years and stood ready to meet the winner of the wildcard game between the Bombers and the Boozehounds, who snuck in at 7-7 thanks to a late season charge.  Across the league, it was the Firehawks laying claim to the division title, with the WildMen and the Sausage Barrel rolling into the playoffs.  The Boozehounds sent the Bombers home early (thanks to a “brilliant” decision by Adam to bench Rich Gannon, the league MVP…) and the Wildmen dropped the Barrel on their way to a divisional championship game.  The Boozehounds then continued their roll by knocking off the heavily favored Air Krunch, while the Firehawks dispatched the WildMen.  In a WAFFLEBOWL that was all but over on Saturday thanks to the Oakland/KC game going all Mike’s way, the Boozehounds won the Waffle Trophy in their first year of existence.

Champion: The Boozehounds
Different year, same result.  The Boozehounds rolled to their second title in as many years and this time did it in convincing fashion.  It was the Timberwolves that they dispatched in the Wafflebowl.  The Boozehounds put up an impressive won-loss record and rolled straight through the playoffs.  The T’wolves came on strong late and made a valiant charge but came up just short when all was said and done.   The Norwegian Nightmare and the Firehawks both advanced to the divisional playoff round, with the Nightmare winning a wildcard game to get there and the Firehawks earning their spot by winning their division outright.  The Adam Bombers and the Captain’s Krunch rounded out the playoff field for the season, with both falling in the wildcard games.

Champion: The Captain's Krunch
The seventh season of WAFFLE was where the current group of owner's all joined in. The Captain's Krunch had a 6 year drought since their first title, and this time there were no ties to cloud the issue. In the title game KD knocked off league newcomer John's Jackasses. Chipper's Black Chips put together a strong showing in their sophomore season, making it to the division championship round. The Norwegian Nightmare made a statement in the playoffs, but was unable to advance to the Wafflebowl when he was upset by his own brother the rookie. Also qualifying for the postseason and making early exits were the Wildmen and Firehawks.

Champion: The Captain's Krunch
The third time in Waffle history with a repeat champion, KD notched his third title and second in a row with a dominating win over the Bomber's who finally won a couple of playoff games, before turning into a pumpkin in the big game. The Wildmen had a strong season in an ultra-competitive division but were sent home early. The Boozehounds were the only team in their division with any success, but the whole one-and-done any given week thing bit poor Mike in the division championship round and the 5-win Bombers snuck past. The Firehawks and Smack Daddy both exited the playoffs in the Wildcard round.

TEAMS: MIKE, JOHN G., NICK, TIM, ADAM, KEVIN D., RJ, JOHN N., STEVE, ROB

Champion: John's Jackasses
The Jackasses rose to their first title in franchise history in the 2006 season in an impressive blowout victory over Chipper's Black Chips in the Wafflebowl. The Black Chips knocked off the Boozehounds in the divisional championship round while the Jackasses dispatched Smack Daddy to a second round exit, leaving both regular season division champs at one and done in the playoffs. In the Wildcard games it was The Sausage Barrel falling to the Jackasses and The Lebowski Ringers getting sent home by the Black Chips.

TEAMS: MIKE, JOHN G., NICK, TIM, ADAM, KEVIN D., RJ, JOHN N., STEVE, ROB

Champion: The Sausage Barrel
The Sausage Barrel completed the greatest comeback season in Waffle history as they started the season 0-6, and went on to go all the way to the big game and capture their Third Waffle title over The Lebowski Ringers. The Division Championship games The Ringers drop the Bombers out of the playoffs for yet another season, and The Sausage Barrel took out odds-on favorite the Boozehounds. In the Wildcard round The Sausage Barrel became the first team to ever win a playoff game via the tiebreaker player in ten seasons of Waffle action. The otherwildcard game saw The Adam Bombers win their third playoff game in franchise history, advancing over The Captain's Krunch.
